Ölüdeniz enjoys one of the longest holiday seasons on the Turkish coast, with warm sunshine stretching from spring well into autumn. That makes the best time to visit Ölüdeniz less about finding good weather and more about finding the right kind of good weather for you. Whether you dream of hot beach days, comfortable walking weather or a peaceful break for two, here is how the year unfolds.
When Is the Best Time to Visit Ölüdeniz?
For most adult travellers, the best time to visit Ölüdeniz is late May to June or September to October. During these months the days are warm and sunny, the sea is pleasant for swimming and the beaches feel far more relaxed than in high summer.
Which season suits you
- Sun seekers: July and August bring the strongest heat and the warmest sea, along with the biggest crowds.
- Couples looking for calm: Late spring and early autumn offer comfortable temperatures and a slower, more peaceful pace.
- Active travellers: Spring and autumn are ideal for walking, sightseeing and time in the mountains.
Ölüdeniz Weather and Sea Temperature, Season by Season
Long term averages from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) and years of sea temperature records paint a clear picture of what each season brings.
- Spring (April to May): Days grow steadily warmer, reaching the low to mid twenties by May, and the hillsides are green and full of flowers. The sea is still refreshing at around 17 to 20°C, so this is a season for exploring more than swimming.
- Summer (June to August): Expect long, dry, sunny days with afternoon highs often above 30°C. The sea reaches around 27 to 28°C by August, and the Blue Lagoon is at its busiest.
- Autumn (September to October): The heat softens but the sea stays warm, averaging around 27°C in September and still about 24°C in October. Belcekız beach also hosts the Ölüdeniz Air Games, usually held in October, when colourful paragliders fill the sky.
- Winter (November to March): Temperatures are cooler, rain is more frequent and the resort is much quieter, with many restaurants and businesses closing for the season. It suits travellers who want peace and scenery rather than beach time.

Matching Your Dates to What You Want to Do
The weather is only half the story. The right month also depends on how you want to spend your days.
- Swimming and beach days: Choose July to September for the warmest water, or June and October for pleasant swimming with fewer people on the sand.
- Paragliding from Babadağ: Flights run through much of the year when the weather allows, and clear, calm days give the best views. Our Ölüdeniz paragliding guide explains what to check before you fly.
- Walking the Lycian Way: Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for hiking, as summer heat makes exposed paths hard going. Read our guide to walking the Lycian Way from Ölüdeniz for the best short walks.
- A quiet break for two: Combine shoulder season dates with an adults only hotel for the calmest stay, with a peaceful pool and relaxed evenings away from the summer rush. Our guide to where to stay in Ölüdeniz explains which areas are quietest.
Sejo Vista is a small, adults only Ölüdeniz hotel directly opposite the Babadağ cable car station and 600 metres from the beach. Once you have found the best time to visit Ölüdeniz for you, explore our rooms or get in touch with us to plan your stay.
